Inspired by the ancient classic Russian caravan tea that got its smoky flavour from the old tea trade routes, and the caravans evening campfires along them.
This is a pinewood smoked Lapsang Souchong black tea. Blended with Formosa Oolong sourced from Taiwan & Mao Feng Keemun sourced from China.

"I should have known better, as it's in the name, but I wasn't expected the tea to smell and taste THAT smoky! Very unpleasant. I thought I would get a similar blend to the "Russian Earl Grey" tea from Lipton (I used to buy it when I lived in France) that I love. Not the same thing at all! Not for me. . ."

"Took a punt on this as I fancied something different and it didn't disappoint. Probably a bit akin to Marmite for most as you'll either love it or hate it. Definitely smells more pungent than it tastes but I absolutely LOVE it. 😁"

- Hi I ordered a few different types of teas and this has been my least favourite so far. Too smokey for me. Do you have any tips of what I can add to it to make it taste less smokey at all? I tried honey but I don't like sweet teas so that didn't work. Thanks

- Hi there!! Our Smoky Russian is a Russian Caravan blend which consists of oolong tea, Lapsang Souchong tea, Mao Feng Keemun tea. Traditionally Russian caravan tea absorbed camp fire smoke on route back from China, but in more modern times, it's the Lapsang that is pinewood smoked and the process is just like any other food.
