Tea Powder | Low caffeine

Pronounced 'Cookie Hoh-jee-chah'!

Wafts of freshly baked cookies straight from the oven meet the rich, nutty taste of hojicha. Hojicha is a low caffeine alternative to matcha that makes a delicious velvety smooth tea latte that can be whisked up at any time of the day. This blend also contains maca, to help you bring all the good vibes to your day.

100g pouch, approx 50 cups.

Ingredients

Japanese Hojicha Green Tea (60%), Lucuma, Maca (15%), Natural Flavouring Granules

How to make tea powder

How to make a hot tea powder

  • tea powder tea spoon

    Step 1

    1/2 tsp

  • tea powder tea pot

    Step 2

    Boil 150ml water to 80°

  • bamboo matcha whisking step

    Step 3

    Whisk in a 'W' shape until frothy

  • hot mug tea powder

    Step 4

    Top up with hot water or milk

How to make iced tea powder

    Boil 150ml water to 80°

    Whisk in a 'W' shape until frothy

    Pour on top of ice with water, lemonade or milk

Tea Mixologist Top Tip

Best enjoyed as a latte with oat milk. Add a dash of honey or syrup for some extra cookie sweetness!

A bit disapointing :(

I absolutely love hojicha tea so was excited to try this but sadly this powder doesn't have any of the lovely, roasty flavour of hojicha, the flavour of the maca is overpowering, giving it a strange, stale/musty sort of flavour :(

Tastes like old hojicha

I love hojicha, and this DOES taste like hojicha. The maca and lucuma root powders diluting this blend do it no favours however, as it just tastes like a dusty, old hojicha that's lost half of its flavour. Totally drinkable, but if you've had hojicha elsewhere before and enjoyed it, you might be a little disappointed.

I can see why maca was used to make it more cookie-themed, as I remember it tasting like a honeycomb-cookie taste alone? But here, it just weakens the taste overall!

This was a limited-edition hojicha for National Biscuit Day, so the additional ingredients are indeed present to give the blend a cookie taste - and they can mean that the powder benefits from a bit of extra whisking! (We also find that it works super well as a matcha latte, perhaps with a pump of cinnamon or honey if desired!)
