Our Tea Mixologists Say...

Our Tea Mixologists Say...

What's so special about our sticky chai?

The best chai always comes from using the freshest ingredients but with the busy lives we lead we often don't have time to grind our own spices. Did you know that from the moment spices are ground they start losing their goodness and flavour?

When making our Sticky Chai we do all the hard work for you, blending and grinding spices fresh and even mixing in fresh ginger root for a much more authentic chai experience than the ‘chai latte’ powder mixes you will be served in high street cafes. We then stir in the honey, which is nature's preservative, to help lock in the goodness & flavours of the freshly ground spices - ready for you to brew at a later date, without sacrificing on flavour!

How do you make Sticky Chai?

How do you make Sticky Chai?

Heat two heaped tsp of sticky chai in one cup of milk (any milk will work) on the stove, stirring whilst it heats up. Or pop in the microwave for 2 mins - be careful not to burn!

Use an infuser or sieve to strain your tea into your favourite mug.

Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg or cocoa powder & enjoy.

You can also brew in water (like normal tea!) and add milk afterwards, for a slightly lighter taste.

Fancy a cold brew sticky chai?
It couldn't be simpler! Simply pop 4-6tsp of your Sticky Chai into 750ml cold milk (any milk will work - we love oat!) and shake it up! Leave it in the fridge overnight and in the morning, strain out your tea leaves and enjoy your delightfully spiced cold brew over ice!

Our Cold Brew Bottles have a handy in-built filter, to make cold brewing a total doddle!

Happily caught in a sticky situation

It's what it says on the jar: it's tea and it's sticky. So far so good. You open the jar, you take a deep breath and all the rich flavours of the spice blend hit you at once. And if you are like me, you are baffled by how the tea and spices stick together in a neat, jar-shaped disc until you remember that they are preserved in honey. It's easy to forget the honey because apart from it being the reason this tea has remained so wonderfully delicious and fragrant despite the spices having been ground up days ago, there is no surplus of honey in the jar. All the honey is where it belongs: diligently coating this wonderful blend of tea and spices.

I love chai and I've had both sweet blends, that are very heavily flavoured with vanilla or chocolate, and spicy blends that lean more towards cardamom, black pepper and ginger. This blend of tea and spices is rich in flavour. It makes your kitchen smell amazing when you brew it. You might feel you are doing it wrong because your kitchen is not physically smack dab in the middle of a spice market, but aromatically speaking, trust me, it is whenever you brew this. That being said, this is a spicy tea, not a sweet tea. You might be expecting something intensely sweet because of the honey used to preserve the aroma of all those lovely spices - like I was - and you would be wrong. The honey lends a subtle sweetness but it doesn't overpower the spices, meaning it's entirely up to you how spicy or sweet your brew will end up being.

Hi Heike,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely, detailed review - we really appreciate your feedback! I loved your analogy of going on a mental vacation through the spice markets of India - to be honest, this is one of the reasons I love chai so much, because it transports you to another world entirely! I would recommend you try this as an oat latte too - you might find it's more willing to share the spices with you than its coconut counterpart! Regarding the size of the jar, we will take this on board and may look into making a larger version in the future! Happy sipping, George @ B&B

Royal-tea

This tea is treated as Royaltea in our house, it really is sublime. Saved for cosy Sunday afternoons, a touch of milk and a hint of extra honey added and I’m transported to a spice market, all senses tantalised by the different elements of the tea, with a feel good sensation of the sun warming one’s face - all from a cuppa!
